Arsenal and Newcastle reported to be favourites to sign Serie A star that “can do more than Haaland

We are on international break, which means you won’t be able to see your favourite club, Arsenal, maintain their dominance in the Premier League this weekend.

However, now is a good moment to discuss what we can expect in the coming weeks, when Arsenal has a great chance to win the Premier League. So, what happens if they perform exceptionally well in the final ten league games and outperform Man City in order to win the league title?

Arsenal will then need to go all out in the summer to acquire quality players who can keep them from becoming a one-hit wonder, as many predict. Although there are crucial midfield deals that Arteta should prioritise, I would advise him to also sign an attacker who can compete with Erling Haaland for the golden boot. Other than defending the Premier League championship, if they win it, Arsenal should focus on individual awards next season.

Arsenal has quality forwards, but they do not tally 25 or more league goals per season. With that clear, looking at the transfer window for such a striker may be prudent, and Tutto Atalanta is already saying that the Gunners and Newcastle are leading the race for a Haaland-like striker.

According to the publication, Atalanta uprising number 9 Rasmus Hojlund has piqued the interest of Arsenal executives, who are willing to approve a €50 million deal for the 20-year-old. The youngster who has scored seven league goals since breaking on the scene after the World Cup and capped it off with a hat-trick for Denmark against Finland this week. Former Leeds winger Mike Grella has admitted that he views Hojlund as a better version of Haaland and believes the Atalanta man is the real deal. Hence if Arsenal manage to stel him from Serie A it could be a move they won’t regret.

“I will take the comparison with Haaland very lightly, because he is one of the best,” Grella explained on Football365.

“There is also a slight difference between them, which speaks in Hojlund’s favour.

“He can do more than Haaland. Haaland is more the type who duels with the centre-backs and just scores lots of goals.

“Hojlund can dribble past an opponent. He can keep the ball better. Hojlund can better help the team on the edge (of the penalty box) or deeper in the pitch.”

Hojlund certainly fits the profile of young super-talented but experienced players that Arteta is looking to invest in Arsenal’s future.

He sounds like a good deal to me at just 50million…

  1. How come that Arseenal are being advised to during next summer transfer window sign one Serie A striker Rasmus? Who has scored 7 League goals so far this season for his Atalanta club side. But he could still add more goals to his 7 goals tally before the Italian Serie A campaign winds up for the season.
But for me, not until Rasmus improved significantly on his goals scoring tally before season’s end. Say, to the region of at least 17 League goals or even more. So that he will equal or surpassed Arsenal’s Folarin Baiogun current 17 League goals tally in 27 League games for his Ligue 1 loan club side Reims so far this season.
Then, I could concur with the advisor who said Rasmus is a potential Erling Haaland worthy of signing by Arsenal next summer. And has recommended him to them to sign him.
But if Rasmus got better in his League goals scoring rate this season to reach a very good double figure, and impressed Arsenal and they sign him. While at the same time they decided to keep Baiogun. Which in my own thinking they should and ought to. But what will happen to Nkethia? To go out on another loan spell since Arteta will not want him sold?. But this time send him to a top French Ligue 1 club side next summer to drastically improved on his goals scoring rate tatio?

  2. Its absolutely rediculous to read comments like “can do more than Haaland” that makes me not want to read. There is over hyping and there is plain stupid.

    1. I agree, Reggie. Zlatan can do more than Haaland even at 40+ but we aren’t going to rush out and buy him. I’m sure this lad is going to be a fine player but we don’t need another youngster that might end up being the real deal. We are going to be playing in the Champions League next season and if we want to continue fighting for the title we will need players of proven pedigree. We might include Balogun on that list as he is certainly demonstrating he has an eye for goal and some self belief.

    2. Reggie, don’t fear that we spend money on him cos I’ve been reading that Juventus and Napoli are keeping close tabs on Hojlund. Then we all know what’s going to happen……

  3. You don’t need a 25 goal plus 1 assist striker these days, you need a willing runner contributing 12-15 goals, 8-10 assists and a hunger to close down every ball. Making space for others and fighting, Someone a bit like say……Jesus. I’d hate to be arteta and edu this summer as it’s probably the most critical window in years. It’s just as important to lock the contracts down of the breed for the next 5 years but also to let the fringe players leave. I think there will be no signing aged over 25 year old in the summer unless an unbelievable opportunity came up.
