Clint Morrison insists if Saliba does not play Arsenal will be in trouble

Former Crystal Palace star Clint Morrison has discussed William Saliba’s presence in the Arsenal team.

The Gunners face Palace in their next game and the Eagles will play the league leaders days after their manager was sacked.

Everton defeated Arsenal after changing managers earlier in the season to show that the new manager bounce is real.

Palace could also do that and Morrison believes it could be a problem for Arsenal if Saliba misses the game.

He told Premier League Productions:

“That’s what I was going to say. You always have that new manager bounce and you will always have the speculation, should you have signed Wilfried Zaha? He always turns it on against Arsenal. You might be struggling because you might not have Saliba. If he doesn’t play on Sunday it’s a huge blow.”

Just Arsenal Opinion

Beating Palace is a must for us because we no longer have any other competition to play for apart from the Premier League.

The influence of Saliba in our success this season cannot be overstated; the defender needs to play if he is fit.

However, instead of aggravating the problem, we probably should allow him to rest and sit out the fixture.

There are other important games we will need him and Rob Holding could step up tomorrow.

    1. And who plays right back in the absence of Tomiyasu. It wouldn’t be wise to play Tierney in such a physical game, Holding has done well this season dispite the limited games he has played so I expect him to start Ben will be in is usual right back position.

      1. Holding is a solid stand in, the only problem is some fickle fans judge him prematurely when he has a bad game even though he has gotten pretty much no game time this season.

  1. This is the time for Holding to rise up to the challenge and prove himself once again. There is no need to panick. Once our full backs are fit, and no gambling in our midfield, we can be sure of victory.

  2. Will be in big trouble if we play rob holding ,i dont even know how hes still at our club ,no offence but hes useless,he single handed ruined our game against tots last season and missing out on CL

  3. Ben white and Gabriel Magalhaes was doing extremely well before Saliba join in, Saliba joining continue on where White left off.

Clinton is entitled to his opinion but I suspect some of these opinions or for pundits and some pass players to stay relevant.

  4. He may have his limitations, but I thought Holding was one of our few successes against Sporting and if there is any doubts concerning the fitness of Saliba, he should start.
