Arsenal adds Manchester United ace to their list of targets

One of the most anticipated transfers for the summer is Arsenal’s pursuit of a new striker and the Gunners have expanded its list of targets.

Despite having one of the best records in the league so far, Arsenal remain eager to sign a new frontman to increase their goal output.

Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have failed to meet Arsenal’s goal-scoring expectations this campaign, prompting the club to seek reinforcements in attack at the end of the season.

While several names are on their radar, one of the most intriguing targets is Marcus Rashford, with reports from Team Talk suggesting that Arsenal is now interested in signing him.

Rashford was unstoppable last season, but his goal-scoring form has dipped this campaign, leading to speculation that he could leave Manchester United.

Although moving from United to Arsenal is not a common transfer route, and securing Rashford’s signature would be challenging, the report insists that Arsenal is keen on the striker.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Rashford has had a poor season, and given his current form, we should not consider a move for him.

We have other targets who are in better shape. We should consider moves for them instead of the out-of-form Englishman.

  1. My word.

The story of Arsenal signing a certain Joshua Zirkzee has legs, but who is really driving this deal?

  2. I agree totally with the JustArsenal opinion on the purported transfer news of Man Utd’s Marcus Rasford transfer to Arsenal next summer. And which I too believe won’t happen.

  3. God forbid this
we’re taking off our strikers who had a bad goal scoring season just to bring another one who has the same problem with different club…WTF🤦🏿‍♂️

    1. yes Rashford has had a bad season, hence the vulnerability and price tag

the season before, 2022/23, he scored 30 goals, that makes Rashford the only PL proven 30 goal season striker amongst the long list Arsenal has been connected with

Rashford does not want a repeat of this season, these are his peak years, he needs arrest the decline, and with Arteta’s track record of rejuvenating talent (Odegaard, Havertz) and Arsenal fast track up (Man U decade of decline) he may just look and think this is the place to be to get his career back on track

if ETH is not sacked and reaffirmed as manager for 2024/25 it might get very interesting

      1. That is a massive huff of copium…

One quick visit to fbref website will tell you that Rashford is in fact not a proven 30 goal a season striker, the season before last he was even worse than this season.

Also Arteta does but have a track record of rejuvenating talent, but quite the opposite actually,
Havetz came from a truly terrible chaotic Chelsea team into a well structured one, so naturally his numbers improved, even then not by much.
Odegaard is just…Odegaard, progressing naturally as he ages. You’re implying he was a senior player at Madrid and was terrible, rather he was a teenager in their squad and going out on loan.

Arteta could not improve Ozil or Aubameyang, instead pushed them out of the club.
Also true for Guendouzi, Mkhitaryan, Pepe and Torreira who he also could not improve and sold for minimum money.
Cedric, Tavares, Sambi and Viera have declined since their arrival.
And there has been no real improvement to Smith-Rowe Nketia and Nelson.

Having a positive view is a good thing, but factually incorrect information is not the same thing as positivity

        1. Rashford is a very good player and retains potential that can be developed further. The reasons for his relatively poor performances this season have not been fully elucidated. The setup of MU’s teams certainly do not help. It is unclear whether he can reach the heights of last season again. Looking at him this season a change may benefit his career but the costs of a transfer will be high.
I disagree with you about Arteta. He has an a very good record of improving players. However, he can’t improve everyone. Some of those you have highlighted and those that had to be moved on had their own issues and limitations.

          1. I forgot to mention like 5 to 10 other players that their career has gone nowhere by being at Arsenal under Arteta.

Pablo Mari, Tierney, Elneny, Balugan, Maitland Niles etc. etc. and etc.

If Balugan, Smith Rowe and Nelson were City players they would have sold each for $50m

Arteta let’s them languish and then sell them for peanuts or run down their contract

  4. This surely is a joke,
Also if Southgate has eyes that even remotely work and wants to win the Euros, he’d take Gordon instead of Rashford…

  5. There are some problems between Rashford and ETH. Rashford is highly talented and on his day can win games on his own. If Arsenal are seriously interested in him and if Arteta really believes he can work with Rashford to Arsenal’s benefit, I think signing him would be great. However, Arteta should also build up his defensive game which Rashford neglects or is poor at, he hardly tracks back to help the defence. If all his deficiencies are overcome at Arsenal than we have a great player with us.

  6. Rashford would thrive off Havertz and Rice down our left

30 goals in season, seriously very few in PL can boast that figure, and you know it was no fluke

talking about a signing that could fire us the PL and CL, and still 26, coming in to peak years

if £70m is true, about the price of one Ivan Toney, honestly not even in the same league

    1. Actually no, we don’t know it was no fluke…
And there are many reasons to suggest that it was indeed a fluke,
It is very much possible for a player to peak early and plateau as they approach their thirties

      1. I don’t think it was a fluke exactly, I think he’s an incredibly talented player who was highly motivated for a period of time, not even the full season tbh, and ended up scoring a huge number of goals.
The issue is keeping him motivated – do we really want a player who turns up when he feels like it and disappears when he doesn’t? I don’t.

    1. you’re right, Man U players are going nowhere, look at Maguire last season

the clear out will be nothing as big as rumoured 1) players not that good, 2) top many poor attitudes, 3) asking price to high, 4) wages too high

      hilarious really

  7. If we sign him and he rediscovers his mojo, he will be bolster our UCL hopes. We lack explosive pace wingers that can hurt teams on the break like Bayern (Sane, Comanche, Gnarby), Madrid (Vinicius, the other Brazilian kid). Martinelli is rapid but lacks the experience and killer instinct. Saka is not he quickest and would benefit by having another winger that can take some of the goal scoring burden off his shoulders. Rashford versatility is also an asset provided he stays fit and is not distracted and we manage his playing time well the way City does with Foden. Finally, he is home grown and we can afford his wages if we really need him and he wants to join, and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t.

This type of unique profile is what might make the difference between us getting eliminated in the QF or getting to the final next season, and even winning the league and further edging City given his United connections.
